Apostolos Bounatsos graduated from the Military School of Corps Officers with the rank of Lieutenant of the Hellenic Air Force and from the Dental School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1991.
Until 1996, he served in units of the Hellenic Air Force and at the same time worked in his private practice.

He specialised in Prosthodontics at the University of Manchester Dental School (1996-1999) where he obtained the Master of Science in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics and from the Royal College of Edinburgh he obtained the title of Specialist Prosthodontist in the UK MRDRCSEd(Prosthodontics).
He worked as a clinical associate in the Department of Prosthodontics at Manchester University Dental Hospital, (1998 -1999). In 2016 he obtained the title of Fellow from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

He organized the Prosthetics Department at 251 Air Force General Hospital where he served as Deputy Director (2003-2007) and Director (2007-2011). He is a member of the Athens Dental Association, a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a recognised Prosthodontist by the European Society of Prosthodontics (2011-present).
He is a member of the Athens Dental Society, the Royal College of Edinburgh (1999-today) and a Recognized Specialist from the European Prosthodontists Association (2011-today).
